As we welcome 2026, BEBESEA extends our warm greetings of solidarity to our friends, colleagues, allies, and communities across East and Southeast Asia and around the world. Thank you to every one of you for sharing our journey over the past year and for coming together again as we step into the new one.

The global landscape for human rights and democracy has grown more fragile. Yet uncertainty has always been the ground where movements for justice take root. It is in these moments that solidarity becomes not only necessary, but transformative.

Hope is not naive optimism. It is a practice, rooted in our movements, and a deliberate choice to believe that our actions matter, even when the path ahead is unclear.

Looking Ahead: Our Commitments for the New Year

In 2026, BEBESEA renews its commitment to:

• Continuing to champion community-centred policy advocacy grounded in evidence and lived experience.

• Strengthening cross-border and cross-sector solidarity networks to confront shared challenges together and share the roles and weight of our collective work.

• Expanding storytelling and documentation initiatives, ensuring community voices lead the narrative.

• Creating spaces for co-learning among civil society, businesses, academia, lawyers, and policymakers.

• Cultivating safe spaces and trauma-informed practices across our work and partnerships.
